The Mobile Access Program is a telehealth program that connects individuals in emotional distress with a trained clinician, via iPads carried by law enforcement officers. The chart and map below show the counties where MAP is currently active, as well as the mental health and law enforcement agencies that participate in the program. Police departments and mental health agencies receive iPads, Zoom accounts, and training, and partner with one another to provide rapid access to clinical services in real time. Program data collected over the past three years shows that over 75% of individual in crisis remain at the scene after a MAP session is conducted and are able to avoid a transport to the emergency room. MAP is funded by the NYS Office of Mental Health, and is coordinated by the Institute for Police, Mental Health & Community Collaboration.
